The Keys to Stress-Free Travel with Invisalign

The holidays are in full swing, and for many people, this means they will be traveling in the near future. Travel, whether by air or car, is always a little stressful, and this is especially true given current events. Hitting the road can be even more complicated if you’re using Invisalign in Westerville, but the team at Shirck Orthodontics has thought ahead for you. Here are 4 tips that will make traveling with Invisalign nice and easy so you have one less thing to worry about!

Make a List…Right Now!

Here are a few things you definitely need to take with you if you have Invisalign:

  • Your aligner case
  • A soft-bristled brush
  • Cleaning crystals or denture soaking solution
  • Clear hand soap

These items are essential for storing and keeping your trays clean, so add them to the list of everything you need to pack. We recommend doing this right now before you forget!

Bring Your Next Set of Trays

It never hurts to plan ahead. In addition to everything we mentioned above, be sure to include your next set of trays in your luggage as well. If you’re scheduled to change trays while traveling, you’re covered, but these extra trays can also help in case you accidentally lose or damage the ones you’re currently wearing.

A Reusable Water Bottle is Your Friend

Ideally, you would be able to brush your teeth after eating and before putting your trays back in, but this isn’t always practical while on the road. So, a decent substitute is to simply rinse your mouth and trays with water. That’s why it’s wise to bring a reusable water bottle that you can fill up anywhere. If you don’t have the time or space to clean your teeth and trays properly, rinsing can remove excess food particles so they don’t become trapped in your mouth.

Contact Your Orthodontist

Regular progress checks with your orthodontist are essential to the Invisalign process…do you remember when your last one was? If it has been a month or so since you last saw your orthodontist, it might be wise to give them a call and maybe get a quick checkup, even if it’s slightly ahead of your normal schedule. This will give you a chance to ask any questions, plus your orthodontist can offer more personalized tips and may catch potential issues before they create a headache during your trip.

Wherever you might be going this holiday season, the Westerville team at Shirck Orthodontics hopes you have a great time and manage to relax, as this year has been hard on all of us! Just be sure to keep these tips in mind so that you stay right on track with your Invisalign treatment!
