Clear/Ceramic Braces—Powell, OH
Subtle Treatment, Gorgeous Results
Thanks to the latest advancements in orthodontic technology, patients can now get braces to correct their misaligned teeth and bites without having to deal with their well-known aesthetic drawbacks. Clear/ceramic braces in Powell are able to offer an effective and reliable treatment and not drastically alter a person’s day-to-day appearance in the process. If you or your child could benefit from orthodontic care, they could offer the subtle solution you’ve been looking for.
What Are Clear/Ceramic Braces?
Clear/ceramic braces offer the best of everything when it comes to straightening the teeth and fixing crooked bites. They use the same trusted method as traditional metal braces—a specially bent wire applies a consistent force to the teeth that slowly brings them into their ideal positions, and it’s held in place using brackets bonded to each tooth. However, the main difference is in the materials used to make the appliance. Instead of stainless steel, the brackets are a completely transparent ceramic material, and the wires and elastics are shaded to be tooth-colored as well. The end result is a discreet appearance that blends seamlessly into any smile.
Why Powell Loves Clear/Ceramic Braces
It’s not hard to see why so many patients are choosing clear/ceramic braces over traditional metal:
- Unnoticeable: While metal braces are certainly effective, everyone can definitely see when you have them! With clear braces, the brackets are not only see-through, but flatter as well, making it easier for someone to feel confident about their smile even while going through treatment.
- Personalized Fit: Your orthodontist in Powell custom-designs each patients’ clear braces so that the smooth ceramic fits comfortably against the cheeks, lips, and gums.
- No Upcharge: Unlike at other practices, when you get clear/ceramic braces at Shirck Orthodontics, you’ll pay the same price as metal braces, meaning you can get all the benefits of this treatment without going over budget.
Are Clear/Ceramic Braces Right For You?
We typically recommend clear/ceramic braces for adults and older children due to their aesthetic benefits and because they are slightly less durable than regular metal braces. It should be noted that in some situations, metal braces may be required to fully address more severe alignment issues. We can let you know if this treatment would be a good fit for you or your child at a FREE one-on-one consultation. At this appointment, you’ll get to meet Dr. Jeff, Dr. Jen, or Dr. Soorya, they’ll perform a brief exam, and answer any questions you might have. If ceramic braces are a viable treatment option, then it’s just a matter of time before you or your child start on the clear path to a straighter and more beautiful smile!

Clear Ceramic Braces FAQs
Are clear/ceramic braces just as effective as metal braces?
In most cases, yes! Clear/ceramic braces can be used to correct crooked, crowded, and gapped teeth just like regular braces, plus they’re able to fix minor overbites, underbites, and crossbites as well. For pronounced bite misalignments, however, it may be necessary for a patient to get metal braces. We can let you know if this treatment would be right for you or your child at your free consultation.
Can clear/ceramic braces stain?
The actual ceramic brackets will never discolor, but the see-through nature of clear braces will allow any stains on your teeth to show. That’s why we recommend patients limit their consumption of notoriously staining foods and drinks like coffee, wine, dark berries, tomato sauce, soy sauce, etc., during treatment. As always, it’s important for a patient to maintain their oral hygiene at home and receive routine dental cleanings to maintain the color of their smile. If necessary, we’re happy to offer patients teeth whitening after treatment to ensure their new smile shines!
Will I need to wear a retainer after having clear/ceramic braces?
Yes, if you want your teeth to stay in their new positions, you’ll be advised to wear a retainer after completing treatment with clear/ceramic braces.
Are clear/ceramic braces better than Invisalign?
This really depends on the age and needs of the patient. Adults and older teens who want to get the most subtle-looking treatment possible may prefer Invisalign, but for patients in the “tween” range whose mouth and teeth are still developing, clear braces often provide the perfect middle ground between a clear aligner treatment and metal braces. Clear braces can also help correct issues that are slightly too complex for Invisalign.
Can dental insurance be used to cover clear/ceramic braces?
Coverage for orthodontic care is included in many dental insurance plans, but some are restricted to metal braces for patients under 26 and 19 years old. The best way to answer this question is to go over your benefits and talk to your provider to see if your plan will help pay for this treatment. If it turns out that you do NOT have any coverage for clear/ceramic braces, Shirck Orthodontics is happy to offer 0% interest in-house financing to make your treatment easily affordable.
